Additional Info Specialties  Armenian born pianist Marina Chamasyan is a winner of national and international competitions including the First National Piano Competition in Armenia, Marjorie Conrad Duo Competition, The Catholic University of America Concerto Competition, and the winner of the Ravel Prize at Ibla Grand Prize International Piano Competition in Italy. These achievements led to solo and chamber music performances across the US and Europe, and solo appearance with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra in Khachaturian Concerto Hall in Yerevan, Armenia.
Marina received her undergraduate degree in Yerevan Conservatory. She continued her graduate studies in the United States where she earned an Artist Diploma and a masters degree. In 2005 Marina went to Amsterdam Conservatory where she did extensive research in Beethoven's late piano music. In 2007 she earned her second masters degree from Amsterdam Conservatory. Her teachers include Nina Avakova, Anahit Bodganian, Uriel Tsachor, Willem Brons and Ivo Kaltchev.  Marina is a recipient of a fellowship grant from Gilmore Music Festival and Performing Arts fellowship from Armenian General Benevolent Union. She also studied with Claude Frank, Vikor Merzhanov, André Watts, Vladimir Tropp and Boris Berman. Marina actively collaborates with sisters Monika and Arminé. During the 2009 season, Marina and Monika made their Carnegie Weill Hall debut performing works by Armenian composers.
Marina taught at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands where she collaborated with Johan van der Linden, soprano saxophonist of Aurelia quartet. Together they commissioned works by living Dutch composers and performed numerous recitals and festivals across the Netherlands. Her Amsterdam solo recital at Cristofori was broadcast on the National Radio 4 Classik in the Netherlands.
In the 2011 and 2012 season Marina was engaged to accompany the Air Force Chamber Music Series and presented recitals in venues across Northern Virginia and Washington DC. In the summer of 2012 Marina performed with the National Music Festival Orchestra conducted by Richard Rosenberg. Marina performed Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals at the National Music Festival with a narration by distinguished NPR personality - Liane Hanson.  From 2009 through 2012, Marina was invited to performed for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) "Meet the Artist" series for communities in Northern Virginia.  Since 2009, Marina has been teaching at Wolf Trap Performing Arts Center in Virginia where she resides.
