The Piano Ensemble Festival is an annual concert sponsored by FLMF during the winter season. It provides pianists the opportunity to play in an ensemble setting – something pianists rarely get to experience based on logistics. We provide six baby grand pianos on a stage with two or three performers at each piano (12-18 performers in each group), under the direction of a professional conductor. It is a “symphony” of pianos. Each group performs one long piece or two short pieces together. The concert consists of approximately 14-16 different groups of all ages and levels of difficulty. The concert is held at a local high school. See the links for more specific information and participation requirements for teachers, students and parents.
This year our students will be
performing under the baton of
Jeffrey Sean Dokken of Los Angeles,
now living in Washington, DC.
Maestro Dokken has performed all
over the United States, including The
Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall.
From 2012-2014, Maestro Dokken
had the distinct honor of conducting
at the White House as part of the
“Holidays at the White House”.
In addition to being SONOVA’s Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Dokken is also the Artistic Director of CoroAllegro in Delaware, and the Associate Artistic Director of Encore Creativity. For more information on Maestro Dokken, please visit sonovamusic.org.
