Piano Ensemble Festival

The Piano Ensemble Festival is an annual concert sponsored by FLMF during the winter season.  It provides pianists the opportunity to play in an ensemble setting – something pianists rarely get to experience based on logistics.  We provide six baby grand pianos on a stage with two or three performers at each piano (12-18 performers in each group), under the direction of a professional conductor.  It is a “symphony” of pianos.  Each group performs one long piece or two short pieces together.  The concert consists of approximately 14-16 different groups of all ages and levels of difficulty.

REGISTRATION BEGINS 8:00 AM MON. DATE TBD Registration will be ONLINE only.  The $50 fee per student may be paid online on flmf.org website or by mailing a check to SANDY BAKER, 41635 Browns Farm Lane, Leesburg, VA 20176 - one check (payable to FLMF) and the signed Teacher Guidelines Form will confirm your registration. Teachers may enter up to eight duet teams, but may initially enter only one pair in each group. Do not register yourself with a student. There is a teacher duet for which you can register. Students must be registered in pairs. You may find other student partners from another teacher if needed. Please enter a first and second choice for each duet team entry. Requests will be filled in the order that applications are received. Any registration received before that date will be put at the end of the registration list. Teachers may enter additional groups beginning  DATE TBD Once the registration period ends, a master list of group numbers and students will be sent by email to all participating teachers. Please check it carefully.

Our Conductor

This year our students will be performing under the baton of Paul Westray, a graduate of the Armed Forces School of Muisc.  Paul joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was selected for "The Commandant's Own - The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps where he toured around the world and performed for many Heads of State.  After duty in the Marines, Paul enjoyed playing with the Washington Redskins (now known as The Washington Football Team) Marching Band.  Over teh past decade, Paul has served as a volunteer music instructor in the Loudoun County Public School System, including as the Pep Band Director and Marching Band - Visual Instructor/Show Coordinator at Woodgrove High School.  Currently, Paul is serving as the Traditional Service Music Director and Worship Leader at Leesburg Community Church, and is a member of the Loudoun Jazz Ensemble and the Loudoun Chorale.
