FLMF will have have both online and in person meetings/programs for the 2022-2023 season depending on the location and needs of the program presenters.

The Classical Fortepiano:  An introduction to the sound world of the fortepiano and its significant impact on Classical-era music.  Topics of discussion include:  piano evolution, technical aspects, expected performance practices during the Classical era, and historical tuning.

Helping Our Students Understand and Get Excited About Jazz

Caleb Nei will help teachers explore ways to introduce jazz techniques and styles to our students - even if jazz is not your forte!  After the October 12th program, teachers are invited to Travinia Italian Kitchen in Leesburg on October 20th between 5:30-8:30pm to see Caleb perform!

Presented by motivational speaker Jones Loflin.  This program will be based on his book "Juggling Elephants".  Members are encouraged to read the book (available on Jones' website or Amazon) before the program.  His presentation will be catered to how private music teachers can better balance their work and personal lives.

Connie Olivera:  Let's Be Jazzy!!

Incorporating Jazz Into Our Own Playing and Studio Lessons - A Hands On Workshop  Connie will give us some basics on playing jazz AND have all of us play jazz chords, scales, and improvise!  Plus, get ideas on how to get your students playing with chords. You will be able to learn/play on the keyboards at the Piano Express in Ashburn.
